Robotics and automation can help warehouses move more products with fewer workers, but the technology cannot repair the problems already holding a facility back.
That is the argument made by Jeff Jones, Senior Account Executive at Made4net, who said companies often become interested in the latest warehouse technology before taking a close look at their data, processes, and current systems.
“Those technologies enhance a foundational process,” Jones said. “They cannot fix a broken process. If anything, they will exacerbate it and make the broken process worse.”
Jones identified five areas warehouses should examine before making another major technology investment.
